イノベーションとインベンションの違い

イノベーション(innovation)とインベンション(invention)の違い

イノベーションとインベンションは、使い方を間違えることが多いので、英英辞典のoxford longman と英和辞典の 研究社で調べてみた。

oxford

これらをまとめると、

インベンション(invention)は、単純に発明という意味である。いままでに無かったアイデアのことであるから、そのアイデアが、実現不可能の嘘でもとりあえず構わないということになる。

イノベーション(innovation) には、invention という意味もあることはあるが、それよりずっと広い意味がある。(この点は、研究社 新英和中辞典からはなかなか読み取れないが、oxford や longman からは、しっかりと読み取れる )発明した内容を、 introductionする、これは、世の中に紹介する、つまり世の中の多くの人に初めて知ってもらう、それだけでなく、さらに初めて導入して経験するという意味があるので、つまりは普及させるという意味に行き着く。つまり、意味として相応しい日本語は、「発明品の普及」であり、「その発明品の爆発的流行」ということである。

だから、インベンション(発明)は自分でするものであり、イノベーション(発明品の普及)は、世の中に起こすものなのだ。

これを企業活動で考えると、研究開発で、インベンションを達成し、宣伝と販売でイノベーションを達成することになるのだ。

インベンションができでも、イノベーションを起こすとなると、宣伝と販売をクリアしなければならないので困難がさらに高まるのだ。
